Hours of Operation and Calendar
We are open from 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Our curriculum is
implemented between the hours of 9:30 A.M. and 4:00 P.M for
full-time students and 9:30 A.M.-1:00 P.M. for part-time students.
Our three day program is on Monday, Wednesday and Friday
and the two day programs is Tuesday and Thursday. The 2006-2007
academic year will begin on September 6th. Holiday and vacation
days are determined by the calendar of elementary schools.
We implement a developmental
curriculum with an emphasis on active learning. Our programs
are based on the individual emotional, social, physical and
intellectual development of each child. They are designed
to facilitate the development of self-confidence so that children
may approach learning as fun and actively search for information
and solutions to problems. Because we believe that the process
of learning is more important than the content, learning activities
are designed to emphasize the experiences children are having
rather than what results from those activities.
We set consistent, understandable limits
and train teachers to respond to inappropriate behavior with
insight, skill, and sensitivity. Children become increasingly
responsible for themselves when clear, consistent and age-appropriate
limits are present. When out-of-bounds behavior does occur,
we do our best to insure that the children understand why
the behavior is inappropriate and how to modify it.
Our employees
are carefully selected, evaluated, and trained so that services
provided will continue to improve and increase. Our administrators
and teaching staff are responsible for insuring a safe, clean
and well-prepared environment. In short, with our developmental
early childhood programs and trained staff oriented to the
individual child, La Fontaine will help support you as you
raise your child.
